His Grandfather ignited Mike’s interest and passion in the tattoo industry, as he used to show Mike his tattoos and then proceed to tell him to never put identifying marks on his body. Obviously that never stopped him. He first started tattooing as a kid trying to hand poke tattoos with a needle and thread, until he heard that it was possible to make tattoo machines on his own. He then got to work and taught himself how to tattoo at the age of 15/16, and soon found his way into a shop. In the 30+ years that Mike has been tattooing, he has owned and worked in various shops all across Canada, where he has gained the experience to tattoo in pretty much any style, from Japanese, to Travis has been tattooing since around 2009, and has been in love with tattoos for as long as he can remember. He has always really loved traditional tattoo art such as American traditional tattoo designs and traditional Japanese tattoo art. His favourite things to tattoo are anything inspired by classic Americana tattoo designs, such as lady heads/faces, sailor style tattoos, tigers, sparrows, as well as anything Japanese. Despite his love and respect for classic tattoo art, his own personal style of tattooing is more of a black and grey illustrative approach. His ideal projects involve taking ideas based on classic traditional tattoo designs and redrawing them in his softly shaded black and grey style. For Travis, tattooing is more than just a job or even a career, it’s his way of life, and one that he is proud of and grateful to live everyday. He treats his craft as a privilege that he takes very seriously.
